Healthy body + Healthy mind = Happy Soul : Mega Yoga Camp by Akshar Yoga
Happiness is a state of mind that could be attained only when the mind is at peace and that is possible only if the body is healthy. Everyday yoga practice with 100% discipline and dedication is the key to a healthy body irrespective of any kind of life situations!
Himalayan Yogi Grand Master Akshar organized a two day Mega Yoga Camp to solve all the ‘wh’ queries on yoga exclusively for the people of Bengaluru. The event was held on 25– 26 February, 2017 at Tripuravasini, Palace Grounds, Bengaluru. It was an amazing blend of asanas, pranayam and meditation techniques that was taught in a simple way by the grand master himself on both the days. He showed the true path to relax one’s body and calm the mind.
Women are mostly the early risers as they hold the responsibility to take care of all the needs of their children, husband and other family members. However, on 25th and 26th February majority of them got up early for themselves, as they had to reach Palace Ground before 6 AM to be part of the event. Some were accompanied by their husbands and other family members. The venue was oozing with enthusiasm and positive energy. 3000 and 3500 participants graced the 1st and 2nd day respectively. 50 trained yoga teachers were appointed all over the premises for assistance.Day 1 began sharp at 6 AM with inauguration by new-age stars Phogat Sisters, Geeta and Babita. Yoga is all about self-obedience and perseverance wearing the genuine smile hence grand master Akshar called the most suitable guests to induct the event. Geeta and Babita were quite humble and mesmerized Bengalurians with their simple yet impressive personalities. Dangal daughters do yoga everyday in the morning before their wrestling practice. They mentioned yoga helps them to stay stronger and focused. The inauguration session also had some dignitaries from the Government.
Next it was the most awaited session, practice of yoga asana. In one hour duration 10 asanas were taught. Grand master gave instructions slowly allowing all the participants to follow him at every step. Then it was time to learn the pranayam for 45 minutes. Pranayam helped in breathing correctly. It was followed by half an hour session on meditation. It not only relaxed the mind but the unwanted thoughts in the mind were also trashed. The last 15 minutes were devoted to chant for peace and Day 1 concluded. Day 2 began with sharing the experience of the previous day and the same schedule of asanas, pranayam, meditation and chant for peace was followed.
Asanas taught and practiced on both days were Pranamasana, Hastha Uttanasan, Padhasthasan, Santulasan, Ashwa Sanchalanasnan, Astanga Pranamasan, Chaturanga Dandasan, Adho Muki Svanasan, Chakrasan, Naukasan, Halasan, Dhanurasan, Sarvangasan, Urdva Muki Svanasan, Padmasan, Malasan, Setu Bandasan, Badakonasan, Dandasan, Bramhachariasan, Bhujangasan, Vajrasan, Makarasan, Shalabasana and Sukhasan. These 25 asanas address the over-all wellbeing of both external and internal body parts. A regular practice shall proffer the balanced strength and positive energy to the body. However, people having specific ailments need to do special asanas addressing their physical problems.
Similar to asanas, the different pranayam apt for the routine practice taught were Udgeeth Pranayama, Bhramari Pranayama, Khand Pranayama, Anuloma Viloma Pranayama, Bhastrika Pranayama, Murcha Pranayama, Kapalbhati Pranayama, Surya Bhedi Pranayama and Chandra Bhedi Pranayama. These pranayamas help to cleanse 72,000 nadis in the human body. It also improves the oxygen levels in the body as the blood and respiratory systems get purified.
Meditation techniques taught by the grand master seem easy to follow but to grow spiritually, it is imperative to carry out meditation every single day. People residing in urban India are caught in the mundane machine life and crave for fresh air as well as peace. Yoga provides them a natural healing in the environment that is crippled with umpteen constraints like lack of time, professional deadlines, lifestyle stress etc. Everyday practice of asanas, pranayam and meditation gives one immense energy to start a new day with cheerfulness and zeal.Mega Yoga Camp was one of its kind events that aimed to create awareness on well being and showcased the right way of doing it through yoga and meditation. The camp aspired to transform the society to attain healthy and serene life. It was indeed successful in spreading the message of health, peace and happiness!!
