The massive Heritage Fest that ISKCON hosted, between JULY 26 and SEPTEMBER 06, 2016 was an eye opening experience. I happened to volunteer for the Fest and I should say it was a great experience!!

Let me give you the glimpse of Heritage Fest events that majorly showcased and focused on the potential of the children who participated in the events.

Can you guess how huge the event turned out to be? It was massive and grand with 84 events and 12,000 participants from various schools. Below is a list of the events conducted during 2016 heritage fest. Children from all age groups participated, right from kindergarten to high school, specifically from classes 8, 9 and 10th.

Every day children would gather enthusiastically at  the ISKCON temple, enjoy the delicious kichidi Prasad, have a darshan of deities and start their activities. We really have to salute the collective effort of Parents, Teachers and their respective schools for encouraging them to participate in such cultural events and keep our rich culture active and alive.

We also should thank the esteemed Judges, experts from various fields, who volunteered freely to serve a noble cause and encourage young talent. Hats off to the ‘The volunteers’ who helped in organising and conducting the event at all levels and gave their best throughout the event.

6 main competitive events and multiple contests under main stream were:

Dance: Classical Dance like Bharatanatyam, Kathak & Kuchupudi.

Decoration: Altar Decoration, Cookery, Pushpalankara & Rangoli

Drawing: Colouring, Handwriting, Painting & Pencil Shading

Literary Arts: Creative Writing, Essay Writing, Story Telling, Vedic Quiz & Rhymes

Music: Gita Sloka Chanting, Vocal Music, Music Concert

Theatre: Dumb Charades, Mono Acting, Puranic Costumes, Mime & Mono-acting, Vedic Skits.

Here are a few pictures from the cookery event and alter decoration event held in ISKCON Heritage fest 2016. The dishes were tasty, home-made with help of parents and arranged by children. The decorations, rangoli, drawing, painting, creative writing were just  amazing. While one has to be there to be able to actually enjoy the lovely heritage that kept resounding, here are a few pictures featuring various activities from the Heritage Fest.
