Pattachitra is a traditional painting of Odisha, It is one of the oldest and most popular art forms in India and are predominantly based on Hindu mythology. This traditional style of painting still survives in the places like Puri, Raghurajpur & Chikiti. The art form has evolved drastically over the years and has experienced distinguishable changes. The Chitrakars today paint not only on palm leaves and cloth, but on various mediums like silk, wood, glass, canvas, paper and many more. Pattachitra artform is known for its intricate details which takes an artist years to master.
What to expect at the workshop?
This is an intensive 4+ hours workshop. Students will be briefly run through the history of the art form and the techniques the traditional artists use. And then we move on to painting a beautiful traditional motif on a handmade cotton rag paper. The focus of the workshop will be more on design style, traditional pattern forms in Pattachitra. All the necessary art supplies will be provided for this workshop.We will be using acrylic paints for this workshop
