Details

Harishchandragad is a beautiful hill fort in the Ahmednagar region and a very popular trekking destination. The fort mountain along with, TOLAR KHIND, MALSHEJ GHAT offers a lot for trekkers. The main attraction here is the KONKAN KADA which offers a spectacular view of Konkan. During the rainy season be walking in the clouds on this fort.

Harishchandragad is one of the best trekking spots in the Sahyadris of Maharashtra. Harishchandragad is also known as trekkers paradise, located in the
Boundaries of Pune, Thane & Ahmednagar Districts of Maharashtra state in India. This fort has got an eye-pleasing natural beauty, along with diverse flora and fauna. Harishchandragad is famous for a lot of specialties such as its marvelous natural beauty, tough trek & none other than the beautiful Konkan Kada. The most fascinating spot in Harishchandragad is the Konkan Kada.


Taramati peak is another spot for a panoramic view of the valleys. The Taramati peak is the highest peak on Harishchandragad. One must visit the Temple of Kedareshwar Cave, Ganesh Gufa, Saptatirtha, Kedareshwar, Konkan Kada, Taramati peak.

Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 1:                                                               

Participants from Mumbai are supposed to join us at the Kalyan railway station platform no.1  by 10 pm. Meet our trek leader at the ticket counter of Kalyan railway station. Move towards base village by jeep/bus.

Participants from Pune will depart from Shivaji Nagar, Bank of Maharashtra at 10 pm.

Day 2:

  • Reach the Base Village by Early Morning 2 AM.
  • Start the Trek by 2 am. & Reach the top by 6 am. Sunrise, Breakfast
  • Enjoy the view of Trekking.sunrise from the top, Konkan Kada view, lunch & start descend back to the base by 10 pm. Reach base village Khireshwar by 4 pm.
  • Start the return Journey towards Pune/ Kalyan Railway Station by 5 pm.
  • Reach Pune/Kalyan by 8-9 pm.

We may come an hour early or late.               

Tour Concludes with Happy Memories.

  • If cancellations are made 15 days before the start date of the trip, 25% of the booking value will be charged as cancellation fees
  • If cancellations are made 7-15 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of the booking value will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 0-7 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of the booking value will be charged as cancellation fees.

There was only 1 guide with us, who although we really loved as a person, was not very well versed with the terrain.We were lost in a couple of instances and ultimately ended up doing a longer route after crossing the rocky patch (first stall).The problem is this added around 4 kms to this already relatively long trek.The other difficulty was that because of there being only 1 guide (Rohan), when one of my friends started feeling ill and had to be sent back midway, everyone else had to wait while Rohan dropped him back to the village and joined us.To avoid this and face other emergencies better, most treks I have done so far have a minimum of 2 guides or atleast 1 guide and 1 local.The trekking experience could further be enhanced if the guide is given instructions to allow trekkers to take a moment, wait and enjoy the scenic beauty instead of being constantly hurried. While we completely appreciate and completely understand how inordinate delays can cause a severe set back to the entire preplanned schedule, I think the constant plea/ command to keep moving ahead makes trekking in this haphazard manner a bit of an unpleasant experience.I'll end by requesting that the guide in question is not reprimanded because we quite liked and grew fond of him and wish him all the best for the future,But these things needed to be indicated.Regards. - by Kaustubh Thipsay for Harishchandragad Trek Via Khireshwar Route .

Harishchandragadh - What an amazing trek it was!!We reached the base village at 3 :00AM, after tea we started our trek.. this was my 1st night trek, we climbed the Mountains in drak that too via khireshwar..Rohan and Vitthal kudos to you guys, you both made us do something in dark, which people will fear doing when everything is visible.We met all our Target timings, reached the temple by 7:30AM, after awesome poha and chai in the caves, headed towards konkankada... Returning was a challenge, crossing those Rocky patches again in continuous rain, adventure club Pune you were great support here.14 hours of trek to and fro was amazing, not only this club offered us a ride to Malshej ghats which was not included in the package :) :) After so much of hardwork we needed good food and bang on - dinner was awesome.. Thank you for the great experience guys, it was a well organized trek - Ajay, Rohan and Vitthal..Keep Rocking!!!!!!!Definitely doing next trek with you :) - by Ayushi Jain for Harishchandragad Trek Via Khireshwar Route .

A great trek during the monsoon season. The trek and transport arrangement were good by Adventure club Pune. (Although for such a long distance ride, we wouldve preferred a better vehicle)However, the choice of trek leader wasn't good. He wasn't proactive to start early and there was delay from the trek leader side at all point. All members for the trek were ready and we had to wait for the trek leader!!!Food wise, the plan for breakfast and lunch wasn't the best. The plan to have breakfast at the top would work if the lunch is to be served at the base camp. And not one with having both almost at the top within 2 hours gap. Great experience, the guide Rohan Jadhav was very friendly, experienced and helpful. He covered all the important spots and took care of each member of the group. The group was small that day but the atmosphere created was very nice and friendly. The breakfast and lunch were also of good quality and we were served authentic Maharashtrian food. A tough challenge, but some amazing scenes along with a wonderful and flexible guide (Rohan). The views and experience of being around these massive boulders are jaw dropping. I am from Mumbai, I had been to this trek on 04th&05th August through Adventure Club Pune, we were supposed to be in all 7 participants for the trek, but on the day of the trek, the group of 6 participants postponed their trek, but thanks to Mr.Ajaysinh Lakhe, he did not cancel the trek, but instead sent one of his trek guide's Mr.Pankaj Kumar for me, the sole participant, this shows Adventure Club Pune's commitment towards not disappointing the trekkers who wait for the weekend to have a good adventure, and boy I had the time of my life, one of the best treks of my life this will always be.I and Mr.Pankaj had a good time knowing each other and exploring the trek route like friends rather than a trekker and his guide...Mr.Pankaj knows the route very well and not even once did we miss our way even in the pitch dark trek route we had to cover towards the base village. Good arrangement for sleeping overnight and the *ghar ghruti* food was delicious.Cheers to Mr.Ajaysinh, Mr.Pankaj and whatever *team he has* and *is building* towards providing thrill seeking trekkers like US, a experience of a lifetime. I had a wonderful experience with Ajaysingh - our trek leader. He was well aware of the route. It was a tough job for him as there were a few experienced trekkers with good stamina and other inexperienced once who required a time to time push. Ajay did his job really well by handling both type of people in the group.
