About Gajam Govardhana
Shri Gajam Govardhana is a gifted traditional Telia Rumal handloom weaver of Puttapaka, Nalgonda district in Andhra Pradesh. Their family is producing Telia Rumals for the past 80 to 100 years as a family tradition and Shri Gajam Govardhana started his life with 2 looms weaving Asia Rumals and made a commendable role in popularizing his family's traditional handloom variety. The Telia Rumals are valued for their permanent oil retention and their range of Ika designs with vegetable colors.
In recognition of his service to the profession and its promotion, a number of International and National Awards like National Award, UNESCO Award, Shilpguru Award, National Master Weaver Award, Cheongju International Craft Biennale Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, etc., apart from Padma Sri Award were conferred on him.
Ms. Revathi Raju is the Managing Director of Vyasa International School, Bangalore and Vice Chairperson of Ficci Flo. A connoisseur of Indian Arts, crafts and textiles, she actively works on their promotions as an executive committee member of Karnataka Crafts council and representing India as a member of the World Crafts Council.
