Let the river of this year (and decade!) flow by you as you bid it good night, here. Put to bed the worries off the top of your head for now- your expectations, disappointments, and even your high points.
We, Deepthi and Akash shall take you through an hour of calm; singing lullabies in different languages, mostly from our subcontinent.
What are the concerns that you want to say goodnight to, at present? - So that you can sleep over them and wake up to newer (and hopefully better) ways of perceiving them? What are the things, parallel-y, that you may want to say goodnight to, forever?
What do you associate lullabies with? Swings, being held and cradled, comforted and loved, peace? We hope that you can revisit some of these memories of solace on this restful evening.
Deepthi Bhaskar is a trained classical singer who has a soft corner and talent for the culinary arts. It is her conviction that everyone can and should sing. She channels her restlessness by developing and curating music for national and international theatrical productions, and by wandering to places that feed her soul.
Akash Narendrans singing is informed by Carnatic, bhajan and choral training. He is passionate about intersectional social justice, the performing arts, and community stories. When not considering disturbing the status quo, he loves putting people at ease.
Bring your parents and your partners to Songs of Sleep. Bring your lovers, bring your friends. Bring your children. Tell colleagues. Bring yourselves.
