In our 304th Edition of "Tuesdays with the Bard @ Urban Solace," we feature Dr. S. Padmapriya started writing poetry at the tender age of 7 and was first published at the young age of 15. An Economist by profession but a teacher and writer by choice Dr. Padma completed her doctorate at the age of 28. Dr. Padma has three books of poetry to her credit and they span the themes of Love, Morality, God, Human Psychology, Hope, Desire, Nature, Socio-economic-political-cultural systems, Friendship, Peace, Happiness, Respect, and Achievement.
About our Featured Poet Dr. S. Padmapriya
Dr. S. Padmapriya, Ph.D. was born in the Salem district of the state of Tamilnadu in India in 1982. She has had an illustrious academic track record, which culminated in her securing her doctorate degree in Economics at the age of 28, from the University of Madras.
The Beginning: She started writing poetry in English at the tender age of seven. She is a child prodigy. Her poem, 'The Peepal Tree' was her first poem, which got published in the international poetry journal, 'Poet' at the age of 15. It was he, who recognized her talent with words and encouraged her to go on in the literary path. Her poems have been published in a number of national and international journals and newspapers such as 'The State times'(J&K), 'The Daily Excelsior'(J&K), 'The Teenager'( Mumbai), ' Bridge-In –Making'( West Bengal), 'Moonlight of Corea'(S.Korea). 'Phoenix New Life Poetry' (United Kingdom),' Young Poet'(Chennai), 'Poet' (Chennai), 'Poetry World'(Chennai), 'Poetcrit'(Himachal Pradesh), etc. Her poems have also been anthologized.
A few short stories and articles, written by her have also appeared in a few journals. She has three collections of poetry to her credit: 'Great Heights', 'The Glittering Galaxy' and 'Galaxy'. 'Galaxy' is her latest offering. Her books have been reviewed in some journals and newspapers.
