After a series of successful Bengali cultural events, Ananda Mela is absolutely thrilled to announce its Eleventh Event, Rabindra Nazrul Sandhya on 1st June 2019 (Saturday) in Bangalore.
We will be celebrating the literary gems of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam as a mark of respect to these two eminent literary masterminds of Bengal.
Let's come together and pay homage to the two great poets of Bengal by being a part of this cultural event. Ananda Mela will help all you Bengalis in Bangalore to experience and cherish the richness of Bengali culture through Music, Dance, Drama, Recitation and others.
Dress code: While you would look wonderful in traditional attire, even casuals are fine. Your presence is more important than what you wear.
For our Non-Bengali friends:
Rabindranath Tagore, a revered poet, writer, painter, author of our National Anthem, was a global citizen who believed that one could promote one's own culture while appreciating the culture of others. He did not see any contradiction between respect for universal values while maintaining one's own.
He was also known as Gurudev or Kaviguru. Tagore received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 and became Asia's first Nobel laureate in the field of literature. In 2017, we will be celebrating Tagore's 156th birth anniversary.
Kazi Nazrul Islam was a Bengali poet and musician. He was also known as Bidrohi Kobi (rebel poet) for his works espousing resistance against all kinds of oppression. He influenced the literary world with his poetry, music, philosophies and revolutionary views. His vision for both India and Bangladesh increased his popularity in both countries, being named the National Poet of Bangladesh and being remembered and honored fondly in India.
