Bangalore Randonneurs is a part of Audax India Randonneurs (AIR), which is a all-India organization for randonneurs and is recognised by the Audax Club Parisien (ACP). AIR is in charge of overseeing all Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRMs) and Audax events in India.
Randonneurs or Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux are long distance cycling events. There is a fixed distance that needs to be completed in a specific time limit. BRMs all across the world are approved and regulated by the ACP. Randonneurs, having originated in Italy around 19th century, is now a popular sport across countries like France, Netherlands, UK, Australia, US, Canada, Belgium, Brazil and India.
The minimum distance covered in randonneuring event is 200 km, and the cyclists has to pass through certain checkpoints during the stretch within a predetermined time. The cyclists can run in groups or alone, but within the checkpoints they should be self sufficient.
